Happy New Year!

Let me be the first to toast everyone and wish you all the best things in 2008. I thought 2007 was pretty awesome but I only got to see half of the year...I'm pretty psyched to see what's it like to live a WHOLE year from January to December.

Here's to all my "aunties" out east...I had a great time with you all and I can't wait to hang out with you again soon. Hope you have a great New Year.

I'm riding out this year in style...don't know about the rest of you!

My First Christmas

It's been a long time since I've had a chance to much stuff has been going on and I've been too busy having fun to sit down and write about it all! Auntie Summer came to visit me, and she read me lots of great books.

As you probably all know by now, my mom & dad & oscar & me finally moved into a house of our own. I've got my own bedroom now, and boy is it big. It's so big, in fact, that when I'm in bed and mommy & daddy are in their bed, they can't hear me very well. Which is awesome, because now they stop running into my room at all hours of the night and waking me up just because I yelled in my sleep once or twice. I'm getting almost a full night of sleep now, which is awesome. My mom still comes in at 5:30 am though, which is ok because I kind of miss her after being alone in my bed since 7 pm.

My mom and dad finally asked Amy & Uncle Joe if they would be my godparents...of course they said yes. Who could resist?

And, since Dad got to go back to Connecticut and see all our friends without me and Mommy, I thought I'd go visit Janet & Summer & Shelly & Deirdre & Jeff & Aron & Tara. I had a lot of fun with everyone, but this guy seemed to really get a kick out of me:

(just kidding uncle joey...i know who you are--why do you think i was so happy to see you? i wasn't laughing at you but WITH you, i swear.)

My new toy rocks!

I'll be ready to start boulder-jumping any day now! My new training involves lots of twisting and turning and bouncing around in my new Sassy Jumper. It wasn't even Christmas and my mom bought it for me, wasn't that nice of her?

Wednesday, November 7, 2007, it's cold outside!

Winter seems to have hit crazy mom seems to think it's still ok to walk every day, no matter how cold! Good thing I have lots of nice warm clothes to bundle up in when she takes me out in the stroller. I love the fresh air, and watching the wind in the trees. Yesterday, though, she forgot to put my mittens on, and my hands got so cold they hurt!
This is my favorite picture of me and my Dad...doesn't he look handsome? I love this sweater, especially because my "Aunt" Amy knitted it especially for me! We were out apartment hunting. I liked both places we saw, but one of them was next to the site of a new condo mom didn't think that was so great. Too noisy for when I'm napping! The other one was really big and nice, but now my dad says he wants to live closer to my Grandpa and Grandma and my Mimi and Poppi...and of course Aunt Suzie! He says it'll be easier and way less expensive than trying to go back and forth to the city...which is fine by me! More people around to give me lots of attention. The city's fun and all...but I'm still too young to really appreciate it anyway.

I did it!!

I slept through the night, all by myself! I didn't need help from Mommy or Daddy. Aside from a little midnight snack, I slept all night long. When I woke up in the middle of the night, all I did was roll over and get comfy on my tummy, suck my thumb a little bit, and I put myself back to sleep all on my own. Pretty cool, huh?

Oh yeah, and I also figured out how to roll onto my back, finally!!! I was getting so frustrated because I kept getting stuck on my tummy, and I couldn't figure out how to roll over again. Now I've got it down, and I can roll halfway across the room before Mommy notices. She better start paying more attention to me!

Trick or treat!

My first Halloween was quite a success. Thanks to my Mimi (grandma) for badgering my mom and dad until they bought me a Halloween costume. How could I not dress up for my very first Halloween? I went trick or treating to my grandma and grandpa's house, my Noni's (great-grandma's), and to my Mimi's friend's house for chili...that's where I fell asleep. My bedtime is quite early these days...I'm usually in bed by 7:30! Mom and Dad kept me out a little too late, but it was worth it!!

Summer in October

Indian summer is a lot of fun...we went to the Kids 'n Kites Festival down at Montrose Beach this weekend, where we saw lots of pretty kites flying in the air. I would have pictures of it, but my mom forgot to charge the camera! So there's just this picture of my friend Sammy & her mommy, Rachel. We met Sammy, Charlie, and their parents for a picnic and to watch the kites. I can't wait until I'm old enough to fly a kite of my own!

I also like Indian Summer because I get to wear all the pretty sundresses that people bought mom didn't think I'd get big enough to wear them before it got cold...but she was wrong!

And...thanks to my Aunt Summer for this really cool outfit too...all the rest of my big girl clothes are way too hot to wear right now! It's 91 degrees out today...too bad we can't go to the beach and swim!

I'm a big scary bear!

My mom says I have to grow up fierce. Know what I want. Play hard. Be strong. Don't back down, but know when to accommodate others. Sounds like a lot, but it sounds good to me.

This is me having a bad day.

Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Willis? I mean, what is WITH people??? How come they can't seem to make up their minds about their relationships BEFORE they enter into real estate transactions??? When my mom told me we weren't going to be flying home with Daddy this evening, this is the look I gave her.

I was NOT happy with those dummyhead buyers for backing out of their promise to buy our house. My mom was real mad and then real sad. My dad just seemed...shocked. And probably pretty bummed too. Especially because we saw a really awesome apartment today that I would have liked to live in. It had hardwood floors upstairs and carpet downstairs for me to learn how to crawl on. And lots of space for all of us. Now we can't get it because our house isn't selling. And while I like Mimi & Poppi a lot, we really need our own space. It's hard to get into a good routine here.

I'm real sad that I won't get to see all my adopted aunts and uncles and cousins this weekend. I hope I get to see you all soon. Maybe come visit us here in Chicago. Although if we don't get our own space soon, you may have to stay with my Aunt Amy and Uncle Kevin. That's ok though--they have lots of space and are good cooks too.

Guess I'll have to write more now that I won't get to see you guys. Hey--you should write back! Go ahead and post something cool for me to remember one day.

Let's Have a Party!

We're coming back! We're coming back! We're coming back! Well...for a couple of days anyway. I know it's not ideal, since Mom and I don't get in until Wednesday night late, and we're leaving Saturday morning, early...but hopefully I'll get a chance to hang out with some of my east coast "aunts and uncles" while I'm there.

My mom and dad and I are flying out Wednesday, September 12th and get in real late at night. Hopefully someone will stay awake late enough to come get us from LaGuardia airport. Then we have lots of work to do on Thursday and Friday, packing up a U-haul truck, cleaning up the house, and saying goodbye to our neighborhood. My dad has to get on the road early Saturday so he can make it home with all our stuff in time to unload the truck and go back to work on Monday morning. Yuck!

So, it looks like really the only nights we can hang out are Thursday and Friday. If anyone wants to come help my mom and dad I'm sure they would appreciate it. Even if it's just to hold me for a while so they can work! I'm always up for a new face to smile at. And I love to smile!

Goodbye, house!

Well, my mom and dad have done the impossible--they've sold the house, for their ASKING PRICE! They've also agreed to sell all their furniture and the people are going to give them retail value for it. Wow. Good thing they didn't sell MY furniture, though. I'd be pretty sad to have to give away my crib and dressers. I like them a lot.

It's too bad, though, that the great painting on my closet door has to go bye-bye. I really liked that a lot too. I guess it's not as cool as the paintings my dad makes anyways, so it's no big deal.

I'm really glad they found someone to buy the house. That's a load of stress of all our shoulders. Plus, I won't have to worry about getting woken up by the neighbors yelling at each other all the time. And, hopefully in our next house (after we leave Mimi & Poppi's, that is) we'll be able to keep the windows open so we can enjoy the nice, fresh air and not have to worry about cigarette smoke blowing in the windows. Yuck. All in all, I'm really excited. No matter where we end up, it's sure to be better than our first place. Not that my mom & dad didn't make it really nice INSIDE. It was just WHERE it was that was no fun. Plus when we come back next year, hopefully we'll find a house closer to where they work, so they can come get me from daycare faster!

Aside from that, everything's going good. I have been spending a lot of time with Mimi (my grandma) because my mom found some freelance work. I've also been spending a lot of time with my grandma and grandpa von Wahlde. Mom & Dad brought my activity mat over there so I could play, and I like it a lot. I mean, who wants to sleep all day long anyway?

Saying goodbye sucks

My mom and dad threw a party so that everyone could come meet me and hang out with me. Which was cool, but I don't get why everyone was so sad saying goodbye at the end of the night. I was sad because I was really tired. Was everyone else really tired too? I had a good excuse...I met a lot of new people, got passed around a bunch even when I was STARVING and just wanted mom to feed me, went surfing (which was super cool Dad, when can we go for real?), and got to cuddle with Janet and Tara a bunch.

My mom woke up crying this morning, just like me. She says she's really going to miss everyone. I totally know what she means. The people at my party last night were really cool. Mom says our friends in Chicago are really cool, too...and of course there's lots of great family around. But I guess my mom didn't know how hard it was going to be to say goodbye to all her friends. She says she's made some of the best friends here that she's ever had in her life. I hope we get to stay friends with everyone, even though we're going to be farther away now.

My first trip to the beach

I guess I don't look that excited, but don't be fooled. I was having trouble staying awake--my stroller glides over the sand so nicely and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach was quite the lullaby. I hope this isn't my last trip to the beach. It was pretty cool.

I am the fourth generation of strong, bullheaded women...

...that's why my mom and dad are moving all of us back to chicago. it'll be really cool to have mimi and noni and poppy around all the time, and auntie deedee and auntie suzie are really great at cuddling too. they're all really good at spoiling me, but my mom says so long as you appreciate all that you have it's not really being spoiled anyway. it'll be nice to get a break from mom & dad sometimes, although i really like it when it's just mom, dad, oscar, and me hanging out.

Home Again Home Again

Well, the trip back home went smoothly, and I gotta say I'm awful thankful that Aron and Tara came to see me and the 'rents back from the airport. Connecticut weather is as nice as ever and I'm excited to get some time back with Oscar and all the locals. Loving the swing... I'm LOVING the swing.

I am sad that Bindi has gone to the great ocean in the sky. I'll miss him a ton... he was the only one that understood what I said!

Here are a couple other shots from my first plane ride and trip. Chicago was pretty fun and it was nice to meet everyone, though none of them understood a word I said. Even that little Henry kid, but i think he was drinking. He stole dad's LowCard hat and kept hitting his mom's bottle.
